Valuing Diversity

The Department is proud of its talented and dynamic workforce, and recognizes that its employees are its most important asset. DOJ employees are the vital link that ensures the fair administration of justice for all Americans. We also believe that we are stronger, more credible, and more effective when our workforce includes highly-qualified individuals whose backgrounds reflect our nation's rich diversity. To this end, the Department strives to recruit and retain a workforce drawn from the broadest segments of society so that it is poised to meet the present and future needs of our Nation.

Diversity goes beyond race and gender issues. It includes differences in culture, ethnicity, economics, generations, geography, sexual orientation, physical and mental ability, and more. It is the combination of factors that shape our "world view". It is a reflection of who we are - individually, nationally, and as a Department.

The Department supports and encourages recruiting and retaining the best and the brightest citizens from every background and community in this country. It is committed to embracing and fostering a diverse workforce. We strive to ensure that the Department's management practices and organizational culture reflect our commitment to building and maintaining a workplace environment that promotes excellence and creates opportunities for all employees to maximize their potential, fully contribute to the Department's mission, and serve the Nation.

The Department has a variety of affinity groups including DOJ Association of Black Attorneys; DOJ Association of Hispanic Employees for Advancement and Development (AHEAD); Indian Trial Lawyers Association of DOJ; DOJ Pan Asia Employees Association; and DOJ Pride (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Employees).

We welcome applications from candidates who are interested in positively contributing to the Department and hope that you will consider joining the dedicated public servants at the Department of Justice.
