Duties:

  • Serves as a technical expert in the administration of corrections and PREA-specific grant programs, cooperative agreements, and/or contracts. Evaluates and recommends corrections and PREA implementation action to decision makers on corrections and PREA-focused concept papers, abstracts, applications for funding, and related matters to support assessment of compliance with corrections and PREA grant program requirements, relevance to key corrections and PREA issues and priorities, and possible contribution to the adoption of policies and practices that are consistent with the requirements in the PREA standards.
  • Make recommendations related to corrections and PREA program planning and implementation in connection with prospective changes in functions related to the corrections and PREA implementation program areas.

    Provides advice and guidance to resolve, implement, or manage corrections and PREA program issues that involve major areas of uncertainty in approach or methodology.
  • Serves as a corrections and PREA implementation expert to inform on the development and management of grants and/or cooperative agreements, i.e., is called upon to provide advice, guidance, and information on corrections and PREA implementation grants and agreements with unprecedented issues and processes. Develops and maintains effective relationships with national, state, tribal, and local experts, administrators, high-level officials, policy makers, and planners in the corrections field, with an emphasis on stakeholders who are focused on implementing the PREA standards.
  • Develops and/or reviews corrections and PREA grant program materials, such program plans, solicitation content and budget recommendations, justification and program assessment of outcomes addressing BJA program priorities related to corrections and PREA implementation.

    Prepares corrections- and PREA-focused analytical reports, memorandum, concept papers, budget documents and other types of written responses that are disseminated to internal and external audiences to include various practitioner groups, researchers, Congressional committees, and the general public.
