This position is located in the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP), Office of Financial Management (OFM), Accounting Division (AD), Accounts Payable Section. OFM consists of the staff of the Immediate Office of the Director and the Budget, Procurement and Accounting Divisions. It is responsible for planning and directing all the financial activities of USCP, to include budget development and execution, all procurement and purchasing activities, and all activities related to accounts payable and accounting. The Accounting Division, specifically, is responsible for planning, direction, and coordination of the financial accounting operations and reporting activities of the USCP.
Selectee for this position must pass a background investigation.
Appointment to this position is contingent upon funding availability.

Duties:
Independently reviews program funding and spending data and develops cost information reflecting program trends for an assigned area of an organization's financial program. Analyzes financial status reports for overall program status.
Determines pertinent issues and collects relevant information from a variety of sources. Reviews information and applies standard analytical techniques. Develops preliminary recommendations and proposals. Prepares drafts of findings and/or recommendations for review by more senior specialists.

Ensures that the operating plans are executed within the established resources. Provides management with status/progress and identifies potential problems. Conducts numerous and diverse cost studies for a variety of decision-making processes involving program planning, procurement, contracting, budgetary actions, and financial resources.
Provides resource guidance and direction regarding cost analysis and reporting. Recommends reprogramming actions concerning the realignment of resources or changes in funding or budget plans.
