The position is located in Washington DC. You will be assigned responsibilities related to (1) initiating, formulating, planning, and executing one or more of BJS's statistical series or statistical programs; (2) analyzing data and reporting statistical information from one or more of BJS's statistical series or statistical programs; (3) supervising a group of Statisticians working at up to the GS-14 level providing the administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the statistical unit; and (4) representing BJS before a wide variety of stakeholders at the national, state, and local levels that include users of BJS's statistical information and providers of data to BJS's statistical programs. As a BJS supervisory statistician, you will have responsibilities for maintaining, enhancing, and expanding major statistical series and programs to ensure that the knowledge created from them has utility and relevance to stakeholders and that BJS's data collection activities are implemented in ways that maintain the trust and confidence of its data providers. While BJS is looking for candidates with knowledge of all aspects of criminal justice system at the national, state, and local areas, it also seeks candidates with particular subject matter expertise relating to: corrections, prosecution, courts, and judicial processes.
